FIRN is here to help in this crisis.
Language Connections is a nonprofit interpreter service in Maryland, operated by FIRN, Inc. Language Connections offers community-based, professionally trained interpreters who speak approximately 30 languages. For over 35 years, FIRN, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, has offered language assistance to health and human service agencies that serve immigrants.
Our interpreters, who are themselves immigrants, help people communicate with their social workers, doctors, lawyers, immigration officers, etc., facilitating access to critical services to our foreign-born population. Our interpreters are caring professionals, with experience and training as community interpreters, medical interpreters, and interpreters for victims of violence.
In these times of crisis, our interpreters are available to support the needs of the immigrant community, either in person or through the use of technology. Using community-based interpreters you can ensure you will have in front of you, or if you prefer, on the phone or screen, not only someone who can bridge the language gap, but also a caring and experienced professional who knows you community.
