2007 American Success Award Winners

Sung Kiel Lee

Sung Kiel Lee is the owner of Lotto Plaza in Ellicott City which primarily leases commercial space to Korean owned or managed businesses servicing the needs of all Howard County citizens.  Mr. Lee immigrated to the United States from South Korea in 1979, establishing his first grocery store shortly thereafter.  He is a board member for Care Line, a hotline service for Korean youth-in-need and for abandoned Korean women.  Mr. Lee has served as a chairman for the Scholarship Committee of that organization which has provided monetary assistance to more than 120 students in financial need.  He continues to strive to achieve his vision to not only serve his native population but to enrich his American community by introducing the Korean culture to others. 

 

Ifran Malik

Born in Pakistan, Ifran Malik immigrated to the United States in 1985. He is a director at Preserve Investments which provides financial and investment advice to high net worth clients.  He was a founding member of CIENA, a telecommunication equipment manufacturer.  Mr. Malik is the President of the Howard County Muslim Council. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Organization of Pakistani Entrepreneurs, as Executive Director of the National Association of Pakistani Americans and on numerous other Howard County committees and boards.  Most recently he was appointed to serve on the Howard County Revenue Authority Board. 

 

Wen H. Pan

Dr. Wen H. Pan, a native of Taiwan who came to the United States in 1981, is the President of Dynainfo LLC, an environmental consulting business which he started in July of 2005.  Dynainfo specializes in testing laboratory operations, data analysis and validation and related information management.  Dr. Pan has a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, a Master’s in Organic Chemistry and a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences and Resources.  He contributes 1-2 days a week to volunteer work and is an active member of the Howard County Disaster Action Team.  He was sent to Mississippi by the American Red Cross to assist in relief efforts for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.  Dr. Pan is member of the Leadership Howard County Class of 2007 where is learning more about Howard County and how he can contribute even more to the community.
